The Unakoti district administration has launched a series of initiatives to prevent and control dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
According to official data, between 11 and 17 November 2025, a total of 348 people underwent dengue screening at the subdivision level, of which 96 tested positive. Currently, two patients are undergoing treatment. In response to the situation, the District Health and Family Welfare Society has taken swift action.
A special team comprising district health officials visited the affected areas and implemented necessary measures. Seven health camps have already been organized in these locations.
Meanwhile, ASHA workers and other frontline health staff continue to conduct door-to-door visits to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and raise awareness about dengue prevention. They are also monitoring affected patients regularly and providing follow-up care.
As part of the district-wide preventive strategy for 2025, the Health and Family Welfare Department has implemented several programmes across different parts of Unakoti.
These include household inspections to destroy mosquito breeding sites, awareness campaigns, larvicidal spraying, fogging operations, public announcements through miking, displaying banners, using awareness vehicles to reach neighbourhoods, distributing leaflets, organizing health camps, and supplying essential medicines.
Efforts are being carried out through a coordinated approach involving multiple departments, including the district administration, Social Education and Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, and Rural Development officials.
Authorities have emphasized that all necessary steps are being taken collectively to control dengue and other vector-borne diseases in the district.
