Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said ward secretaries have a crucial role to play in strengthening grassroots-level administration and making it more people-oriented.
Speaking at a programme organised for the distribution of appointment letters to newly appointed ward secretaries of Jirania Nagar Panchayat, Chowdhury said the ward secretaries would serve as an important link in ensuring that government services reach people’s doorsteps quickly, transparently and effectively.
“I am extremely pleased to be present at the appointment letter distribution programme for the ward secretaries of Jirania Nagar Panchayat,” the minister said.
He congratulated all the newly appointed ward secretaries and extended his best wishes to them as they take up their responsibilities.
Chowdhury expressed hope that the newly appointed officials would discharge their duties with dedication, honesty, accountability and efficiency, thereby making public service delivery at the grassroots level more effective and dynamic.
He emphasised the importance of strengthening administrative mechanisms at the local level so that ordinary citizens can access government services without unnecessary delays or difficulties.
The minister said the active role of ward secretaries would help make local administration more responsive to the needs and concerns of residents.
The newly appointed ward secretaries are expected to work closely with the local administration and assist in ensuring better coordination and delivery of various government services to people in their respective wards.
