The Superintendent of Police (West District), Namit Pathak, has issued a directive restricting police personnel from creating or sharing social media content while wearing official uniforms if such content affects the dignity and reputation of the police force.

The order was issued following observations by senior authorities that some police personnel have been posting reels, videos, photographs, and other content on various social media platforms while in uniform. The department expressed concern that inappropriate, frivolous, or objectionable posts could damage the image, discipline, and public trust associated with Tripura Police.

In the memorandum, the police uniform was described as a symbol of authority, discipline, integrity, and public confidence. Personnel have been reminded of their responsibility to maintain professionalism and uphold the values represented by the uniform at all times.

The directive applies to all police personnel, including members of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and other units. They have been instructed not to create, participate in, or upload any social media content in uniform that could undermine the dignity, discipline, decorum, or reputation of the department.

The memorandum also prohibits the use of police uniforms for personal promotion, entertainment purposes, commercial endorsements, or any activity that may bring disrepute to the force.

Supervisory officers have been tasked with monitoring compliance and educating their subordinates about the proper use and significance of the police uniform. Any inappropriate social media content involving personnel in uniform is to be reported through official channels for necessary action.

The order clearly states that violations will be treated seriously and may attract strict departmental proceedings under applicable disciplinary rules.

The initiative aims to safeguard the professionalism, discipline, and public trust that form the foundation of the Tripura Police, particularly in an era where social media has a growing influence on public perception.
