Ramprasad Paul, Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, on Friday voiced concern over what he described as growing threats to Sanatan Dharma, alleging that certain individuals and political actors are using the religious tradition for personal and political advantage.
Addressing a rally organized by the Rashtriya Sanatani Seva Sangh in Agartala, Paul said that Hindus across the country are facing systematic attacks and urged the community to remain vigilant and prepared to respond if necessary.
“This nation was built on the values of saints and sadhus,” Paul said during his speech. “Today, despite being a Sanatani country, Sanatani Hindus are coming under attack. That’s why we’re on the streets—to protest, and if required, to retaliate. We cannot remain silent while our brothers and sisters are being targeted.”
He alleged that sadhus and saints are increasingly facing difficulties and emphasized that the purpose of the protest was to show solidarity and seek protection for the community.
“The culprits only know how to kill Sanatani people. Over the past 80 years, thousands have been killed,” Paul claimed, adding that some politicians were “betraying” the faith by siding with other religious interests for political gain.
He further said, “This country was formed by Sanatani people. Sanatan Dharma cannot be eliminated or destroyed by any means.”
The protest march, held in central Agartala, witnessed participation from various organizations and individuals supporting the cause.
