Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport Director, Krishan Mohan Mehra, announced that between 29 November and 9 December, a total of 39 IndiGo flights were cancelled at Agartala’s airport, causing widespread inconvenience to travellers.
According to Mehra, the airport administration implemented several measures to ease the difficulties faced by stranded passengers.
He noted that the airport team, in coordination with the CISF, various airlines, and other stakeholders, expanded seating capacity within the terminal and added additional seating outside the building to accommodate passengers who were unable to return home after cancellations. Arrangements were also made for food, drinking water, and essential assistance, ensuring that affected travellers received basic support during the disruption. The airport additionally increased the cleaning and maintenance frequency of restroom facilities to manage the surge in footfall.
The Airport Director stated that IndiGo has reported the completion of refunds for all cancelled flights up to 9 December. He added that passengers’ baggage was delivered to their residences, with the airline confirming that no luggage remains unclaimed in Agartala.
Mehra further informed that the On-Time Performance (OTP) of currently operating flights has reached 100% as of 7 December, reflecting a stabilisation of operations. To meet increased travel demand, IndiGo has also introduced additional flights from Agartala to Delhi beginning 10 December.
He added that throughout the disruption, airport teams worked round the clock and even extended ATC watch hours to facilitate delayed flight movements and ensure smoother operations.
