Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Friday announced that the much-anticipated Agartala City Hospital is likely to be opened to the public within the next three months.
The mayor visited the construction site earlier in the day to assess the progress and discuss the remaining work with officials.
“We inspected the ongoing work and reviewed the requirements. We are expecting that within the next three months, this hospital will be ready to serve the public,” Majumder told reporters.
The upcoming facility is expected to significantly reduce the patient load on major hospitals, including Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital, Tripura Medical College (TMC), and GB Pant Hospital. At present, a large number of residents under AMC’s jurisdiction depend on these hospitals for treatment, often resulting in overcrowding.
Majumder highlighted that the project is being implemented under the special direction of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, with Health Secretary Kiran Gitte closely supervising the progress to ensure timely completion.
The new hospital will feature a 50-bed capacity, a strengthened Outpatient Department (OPD), and a comprehensive range of essential medical facilities. “All necessary services will be available for patients,” the mayor assured.
The construction of Agartala City Hospital is being jointly funded by the National Health Mission (NHM) and the State Government, while the Agartala Municipal Corporation will manage the facility once it becomes operational.
