A discussion meeting aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation was held today at Agartala Town Hall, organized by the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Board.
The event focused on encouraging citizens in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area to contribute to this vital cause.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar inaugurated the meeting and emphasized the critical importance of blood donation in society. “The need for blood is one of the most pressing requirements in our community. Blood donation should be carried out consistently, as it is the noblest service one can offer,” he said. Highlighting the human bond formed between donors and recipients, he called blood donation “the best religion of human society.”
Mayor Majumdar also urged local clubs, social organizations, and youth societies to actively promote blood donation. Special emphasis was placed on encouraging women to participate in this life-saving practice.
At the event, Agartala Municipal Corporation North Zone Zonal Chairman Pradeep Chand spoke about the significance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.
Among those present were Mayor-in-Council members Hiralal Debnath and Bapi Das, social worker Asim Bhattacharya, Deputy Director of the Department of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr. Subhasish Roy, and members of various clubs and social organizations operating under Agartala Municipal Corporation.
The meeting concluded with a collective appeal to the citizens of Agartala to make blood donation a regular part of their social responsibility.
