In the wake of protests against recent attacks on minority communities in Bangladesh, a group of unruly youths, reportedly under the banner of the Hindu Unity Forum, attempted to forcibly halt trade between India and Bangladesh at Manu Land Customs.

However, the effort was thwarted due to swift action by authorities and intervention from import-export business organizations.

Gaurachandra Adhikari, President of the Import-Export Business Committee, stated that operations at Manu Land Customs have continued as normal.

He noted that the only disruption occurred on December 25 due to the Christmas holiday. He emphasized that international trade is regulated under central government policies and laws, and no individual or organization has the authority to halt it by force.

Adhikari alleged that the attempt to stop border trade was a well-planned conspiracy exploiting religious sentiments, which could have severely impacted the livelihoods of workers and traders.

Following the incident, surveillance at Manu Land Customs has been intensified by the BSF, Customs, and police authorities. Additionally, business organizations have formally notified the Kailashahar police station to ensure enhanced security and prevent similar incidents in the future.
