Ahead of its inauguration, Secretary of Urban Development Milind Ramteke, along with State Mission Director of Tripura Urban Livelihoods Mission Tarit Kanti Chakma, today inspected the Bharat Mata Canteen-cum-Shelter House and reviewed the arrangements at the facility.

The shelter house is scheduled to be inaugurated today by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha in the presence of dignitaries.

Constructed at a cost of around Rs 5 crore, the facility will provide accommodation and essential support to family members of patients admitted to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital and the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital in Agartala.

The initiative is aimed at providing a safe and affordable place to stay for families who travel from different parts of the state for medical treatment and often face difficulties in arranging accommodation during prolonged hospital stays.

During the inspection, the officials reviewed the infrastructure and overall preparedness of the facility ahead of the inauguration.

The Bharat Mata Canteen-cum-Shelter House is expected to provide significant relief to patients’ families, particularly those from economically weaker sections, while strengthening the support system for people seeking treatment at the state’s major healthcare institutions.
