After six excruciating days of waiting and despair, the mortal remains of intern doctor Saptarshi Das, a young medical student from Ramnagar in Agartala, were finally brought back to his hometown early this morning. 

His return marked the end of a heartbreaking journey that began with a devastating road accident in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, last Wednesday night—a tragedy that claimed the lives of Saptarshi and three of his fellow medical students.

The process of bringing him home was fraught with delays. Complications with air transport made it impossible for the authorities to fly the body back sooner, unintentionally extending the agony of a family already drowning in grief. 

Ultimately, Saptarshi’s remains arrived by road, enclosed in a coffin that carried not just a body, but the shattered dreams of a household that once brimmed with hope.

Once a home glowing with pride over their son’s accomplishments, the Das residence has now been transformed into a space overwhelmed by silence and sorrow. Saptarshi, the only child of his parents, had been the center of all their aspirations. 

Today, the very walls that once echoed with his laughter stand witness to their indescribable pain. His parents, devastated beyond words, were unable even to touch their child one final time.

Neighbors and well-wishers gathered quietly outside the house, many overcome with emotion as the magnitude of the loss rippled through the community. The grief was shared, collective, and deeply felt.

Throughout the day, several dignitaries visited to offer their condolences. Among them were Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, and Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumdar. Each leader stood beside the bereaved family, offering comfort during this unimaginably difficult time.

The Chief Minister expressed profound grief over the loss, remarking that no words could truly capture the depth of the tragedy. He acknowledged that Saptarshi, being the only child, was the pillar of his parents’ dreams. Dr. Saha added that the administration had made every effort to bring the body home sooner but had been hindered by unavoidable airline complications. He prayed for strength for the grieving family and extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire state.
