The recovery of a man’s body from the Pitra Canal in Udaipur on Saturday night has caused a stir in the local area.
Officials said the Fire Service received information about the incident and promptly reached the spot. Firefighters carried out a rescue operation, retrieved the man from the canal, and rushed him to Gomati District Hospital. However, doctors on duty declared him brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Chandan Debnath, a resident of West Pitra.
After completing necessary formalities, the body was sent for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family members.
The incident has raised concerns among locals. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and begun an investigation to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances of the incident.
