Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced on Sunday that the central government is investing Rs 950 crore in multiple projects aimed at boosting the development and progress of Tripura.
Scindia made the announcement while inaugurating the new Mata Bari Tourist Circuit at the Dumboor Reservoir in Gomati district, in the presence of Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
He highlighted that projects worth around Rs 220 crore have already been initiated, covering areas such as road construction, solar microgrid development, and healthcare infrastructure. During his visit, he also inspected the ongoing Mother and Child Hospital, being constructed at a cost of Rs 152 crore, and the Agartala Government Dental College, valued at Rs 200 crore.
“All these projects are slated for completion by June 2027. Yesterday, we inaugurated an Rs 80-crore project at Agar in North Tripura. Today, we laid the foundation for the Rs 450-crore Mata Bari Tourism Circuit, which will connect five major tourist attractions — Tripurasundari Temple, Neer Mahal Palace, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, Chabimura, and Dumboor Reservoir. Altogether, the Centre is investing Rs 950 crore in Tripura’s development,” Scindia said.
He credited the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for enabling this significant developmental push in the state.
