Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide call for fuel conservation, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has taken a significant step by reducing the use of escort vehicles and opting to travel by scooter for official movement.
The minister stated that the initiative was inspired by the Prime Minister’s appeal to save fuel amid the growing global energy crisis.
He informed that while two escort vehicles had previously been deployed for his security, only one vehicle will now be used.
He further announced that escort vehicles would not be used during district-level duties. In addition, the use of escort vehicles during tours outside the district will also be kept to a minimum.
Many are viewing the Finance Minister’s move as a strong message promoting fuel conservation and environmental awareness. Appealing to the public, he urged everyone to make fuel saving a national commitment in the interest of the country.
