In a strong move against child labour, a joint operation was carried out today by the Child Rights Protection Commission and the West District Labour Department in several areas of Agartala, including Lakshminarayan Bari Road, GB Bazar, and Surya Chowmuhani.
The raid was conducted following allegations that children were being employed in various shops.
During the operation, three children were rescued from the GB Bazar area. The rescued children were immediately taken to a safe location, and officials confirmed that steps are being taken to assess their future protection and rehabilitation. Additionally, one more child was rescued from another location during the ongoing drive.
It is noteworthy that a nationwide child labour rescue campaign is being conducted across India from January 26 to March 31 this year. As part of this initiative, the Tripura government has also launched a special drive across the state. According to administrative sources, a coordinated six-day operation is underway throughout Tripura to identify and rescue children employed as labourers in shops, commercial establishments, and other workplaces.
Authorities have also stated that strict legal action will be taken under existing labour laws against employers and others found involved in child labour. The primary objective of this campaign is to ensure children’s education, safety, and a secure future, and officials have emphasized that there will be no compromise on this issue.
