Law and Order, Civic Development to Drive BJP Campaign; Tripura CM Eyes All 51 AMC Wards

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday expressed confidence that the BJP-led NDA would secure victory in all 51 wards of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) in the upcoming urban local body elections, asserting that improved law and order, urban infrastructure and development would be the party's key campaign issues.

The Chief Minister made the remarks after chairing a meeting with BJP-nominated candidates along with party state president Abhishek Debroy, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, election in-charge Mriganka Deo Barman and other senior leaders.

During the meeting, the leadership discussed election strategies, organisational preparations and the party's approach towards voters ahead of the civic polls.

Dr. Saha said the BJP would seek votes on the basis of its development initiatives, particularly in drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare, sanitation, road connectivity and urban infrastructure.

"Every election is important for us. We never take any election lightly. Winning is not merely about a particular candidate securing victory. An elected representative has the responsibility to work for the development of the people and address their basic needs," he said.

Highlighting the government's achievements, the Chief Minister claimed that towns and cities across Tripura had witnessed considerable improvements in recent years. He said visitors from outside the state had also appreciated the changes in urban infrastructure.

Referring specifically to Agartala, Saha praised the Municipal Corporation under Mayor Dipak Majumder, stating that improvements had been made in drinking water supply, roads, drainage, sanitation and waste management.

He also claimed that mosquito-related problems had declined considerably due to improved cleanliness and civic initiatives.

On healthcare, the Chief Minister highlighted developments at Agartala Government Medical College, IGM Hospital and Dental College, besides the expansion of healthcare facilities through Aarogya Mandirs.

However, Saha identified law and order as one of the BJP's strongest campaign issues. He claimed that the security situation had improved significantly compared to previous years, allowing people to move around Agartala and other parts of the state with greater confidence.

"Law and order is one of the biggest issues. Earlier, people were uncertain about what could happen and where. Today, the situation has improved not only in Agartala but across Tripura. We will take these achievements before the people," he said.

Reiterating his confidence, Saha predicted a BJP-NDA victory in all 51 AMC wards. He also referred to the alliance's presence across approximately 345 seats in the wider urban local body electoral landscape.

He said the remaining election-related arrangements and organisational details would be finalised shortly.
