A major milestone for the people of Sabroom is expected to be achieved soon as the long-awaited India-Bangladesh International Maitri Bridge is likely to become operational in the near future.

Tripura’s Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma informed the media that the government is making continuous efforts to launch the bridge after overcoming several obstacles.

She said the project would strengthen commercial and economic relations between India and Bangladesh, particularly benefiting Tripura and the entire northeastern region.

According to the minister, the bridge will make the transportation of goods more efficient and time-saving, which is expected to boost cross-border trade and business activities. She also noted that the improved connectivity could generate fresh employment opportunities for local youths and contribute to regional economic growth.

In addition, Santana Chakma expressed optimism that the Friendship Bridge would help promote tourism by improving travel and communication between the two neighbouring countries.

The bridge, connecting Sabroom in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh, is being seen as a symbol of strong bilateral friendship and cooperation. Local residents and traders believe the opening of the bridge will significantly improve connectivity and trade between the two nations.
