An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between the Department of Skill Development and the Land Ports Authority of India, aimed at improving the skills of women residing in border regions. The agreement was formalized at the office of the Director of the Skill Development Department.
The primary objective of this MoU is to utilize the various facilities available at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Akhaura to support and expand skill-development opportunities for women living near the border. As a result of this agreement, from the last week of December, several facilities of the land port—including the 30-seater conference hall, smart classroom, meeting rooms, and other resources—will be made available for women’s training programs.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradip K., Director of the Skill Development Department, said that using the training infrastructure of the land port, various IT-based training programs will be conducted. These will include courses such as Accountant Assistant training, GST, Tally, and other essential skill-building modules for women in border areas.
Debashis Nandi, Manager of the Tripura Integrated Check Post, added that similar initiatives will be taken up in the future at the integrated check posts in Sabroom and Srimantapur. The information was shared through a press release issued by the Department of Skill Development.
