The NSS Unit of Gandachara Class XII School has successfully constructed a Passenger Shed as a durable community asset, reflecting the true spirit of selfless service and social responsibility promoted by the National Service Scheme (NSS).
What makes this achievement especially inspiring is that the entire project was completed through self-funding. The Programme Officer contributed savings from personal out-of-pocket allowances, while NSS volunteers pooled together small savings from their daily tiffin allowances over a span of two years.
Through determination, discipline, and teamwork, the unit managed to accumulate a total amount of ₹42,500 for the construction of the shed. The initiative stands as a shining example of how small contributions, when combined with a shared vision, can create a lasting impact on society.
The newly constructed Passenger Shed will serve students, guardians, and the local community by providing a safe and comfortable waiting space. Beyond its physical value, the project has also strengthened the values of ownership, cooperation, and community service among the student volunteers.
The Passenger Shed was formally inaugurated on May 11, 2026, on the opening day of the NSS Special Camp. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri Dhananjay Tripura in the presence of the DCM, social activists, teachers, NSS volunteers, and members of the local community.
The initiative has been widely appreciated as a meaningful contribution to public welfare and a proud achievement for the school and the NSS Unit.
