Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party and royal scion of Tripura, on Thursday highlighted the neglect of tribal communities by national political parties and cautioned that regional allies often face political marginalization when aligned with larger parties.

Addressing a massive gathering at the One North East Unity event in Agartala, Pradyot emphasized the importance of collective action for tribal rights.

He called on the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT)—currently allied with the BJP—to join forces with Tipra Motha, warning that regional parties risk political extinction if they remain isolated.

“The IPFT should fight shoulder to shoulder with Tipra Motha. Only unity can safeguard the interests of our tribals. If regional parties fight alone, they risk the same fate as many others across the country,” Debbarma said.

Speaking on the socio-economic challenges facing the tribal community, he acknowledged financial hardships but praised their resilience and determination.

“Today, the tribals may not have money, but they have confidence. The One North East stage is a powerful platform for us. One day, the demand for Greater Tipraland will definitely be realized,” he stated.

Debbarma also noted difficulties in organizing the public meeting, claiming administrative hurdles were deliberately placed to obstruct Tipra Motha’s event, unlike other political gatherings. Despite these challenges, the turnout of participants from across Northeast India was significant, which he described as a sign of hope and solidarity.
