Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening school infrastructure across Tripura, stating that the previous government had left behind a heavy financial burden along with unresolved issues, including the 10,323 case.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Madhu Chowdhury Para XII School in Mohanpur. He also virtually inaugurated Tarapur XII School, Gopalnagar XII School, and Berimura XII School. The inauguration programme was held at the Madhu Chowdhury Para XII School premises.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that no notable development was witnessed in the education, health, or other key sectors before 2018.

“Because of this neglect, we have to work harder today. The previous government left behind a massive financial burden and pressure from several unresolved cases, including the 10,323 issue. Despite this, our government is committed to inclusive development,” Dr. Saha said.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the Chief Minister said special emphasis has been laid on the welfare and development of tribal communities.

“There are nearly 700 tribal groups in the country, of which 19 are in Tripura. The unity among all sections—castes, tribes, Manipuris, and minorities—is our greatest strength. Together, we must build a new Tripura,” he added.

Dr. Saha noted that between 2019 and 2024, seven eminent personalities from Tripura’s tribal community have been conferred with the Padma Shri Award.

“The appointment of Draupadi Murmu, a woman from a tribal community, as the President of India reflects a government guided by nationalist thinking and inclusive development. Earlier attempts were made to divide tribal communities, and such attempts still persist. But our vision is for everyone to live together in harmony,” he said.

The Chief Minister further stated that significant developmental progress has been achieved in the state over the past few years.

“Inaugurations are taking place almost every day across Tripura. The more development we ensure for tribal and backward communities, the fairer the competition becomes, enabling them to shape our future. The Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasized that the future belongs to those with knowledge,” he said.

Dr. Saha informed that Rs 20 crore and 64 lakh has been spent on the development of the four schools inaugurated on the day.

“The present government has given special importance to infrastructure development, and adequate budgetary provisions have been made for this purpose,” he added.

Emphasizing holistic education, the Chief Minister said learning should not be limited to textbooks alone.

“Students must be encouraged to participate in sports and other activities. Education is a lifelong process. Many social problems can be addressed through education, which leads us from ignorance and darkness to knowledge and light,” he said.
