Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that one of the prime goals of the state government is to ensure a better quality of life for citizens, and solving people’s basic problems remains a top priority.

He stressed that along with development work, proper conservation of rainwater is crucial for building an environment-friendly Agartala.

Dr. Saha was speaking at the inauguration of multiple projects under AMRUT 2.0 in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, held at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan premises. He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) on October 1, 2021, with the aim of making cities more self-reliant and improving essential urban services.

He said the mission focuses on providing clean drinking water, strengthening drainage systems, improving sewage management, and beautifying parks and public spaces. The Chief Minister stated that both AMRUT 2.0 and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are being successfully implemented in Tripura, enhancing the overall look and functionality of Agartala.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, Dr. Saha said the newly inaugurated projects of the Tripura Jal Board mark a significant milestone. He noted that water is a basic human necessity and added that Tripura enjoys one of the highest water levels among Indian states.

The event also marked the launch of new drinking water connections for 16,224 households across various AMC wards through expanded deep tubewells, iron removal plants, and nearly 206 km of new pipelines.

Dr. Saha further mentioned ongoing township projects, the upcoming Lighthouse Project, and plans for the next city flyover based on public opinion. Senior officials and public representatives were present at the programme.
