Based on secret intelligence, authorities conducted a large-scale operation today across multiple areas under Sonamura Police Station, including Bijoynagar ADC Village, Motinagar Gram Panchayat, Kata Mura, Batadhula, and Burma Doom. During the operation, a total of 2,28,000 cannabis trees spread over 19 plots were destroyed. 

The estimated market value of the trees is around Rs 22.80 lakh. The operation lasted approximately five hours.

The operation saw active participation from Sonamura Police Station, Eighty-one Battalion BSF (NC Nagar BOP, Motinagar BOP, Kolubari BOP, Bhatadla BOP), Boxnagar Forest, Sonamura Forest, 9th Battalion TSR, and 7th Battalion TSR.

Authorities have emphasized that such operations will continue in phases to curb illegal activities in the region. Individuals involved in such illicit practices have been warned to desist and cooperate with the administration’s efforts to make Tripura drug-free.

Officials further stated that legal action will be strictly enforced against those found guilty, and any evidence discovered linking individuals to illegal activities will result in punishment under the law.
