South Tripura District Police today returned 35 recovered mobile phones, collectively valued at approximately Rs 6 lakh, to their rightful owners.

The phones were recovered over the last two months with the assistance of the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal, which helps police trace lost or stolen mobile phones using their unique IMEI numbers. Technical leads generated through CEIR were followed up by the police, resulting in the successful recovery of the 35 devices.

The efforts of the Cyber Cell team in analysing the technical leads, coordinating the tracing process and facilitating the recovery of the mobile phones are particularly appreciated.

After completion of the necessary verification and legal formalities, the phones were personally handed over to the respective owners by SP South,  Mourya Krishna, IPS.

The beneficiaries expressed their happiness and satisfaction on receiving their phones back and thanked South Tripura Police for their efforts.

South Tripura Police appeals to citizens to immediately report lost or stolen mobile phones and register them on the CEIR portal. Citizens are advised to keep their IMEI number safely recorded. The IMEI number can be easily obtained by dialling #06# on the mobile phone.

The programme was attended by District Police Headquarters officers Addl. SP Suman Majumder, DySP DIB  Swapan Debbarma, DySP, CAW, Shipra Baidya, Crime Inspector Subir Malakar, Reserve Inspector Shri Surasen Tripura, and Inspector Julian Darlong along with other police personnel.
