An alleged incident involving a young child has triggered concern and tension in the Thakurpara locality of Melaghar.
A teacher at a private English-medium school has been accused of taking a gold chain from a four-year-old student, identified as Riddhima Bose. The matter came to light after the child returned home on the 24th and her family noticed that the chain, reportedly weighing around nine annas, was missing.
According to her father, Ramu Bose, when the child was asked about the missing ornament, she claimed that a teacher at her school had removed it from her neck. Acting on this, he contacted the school authorities, who allegedly denied any involvement at first.
Unsatisfied with the response, Ramu Bose later filed a formal complaint at Melaghar Police Station.
Further allegations have emerged that after the complaint was lodged, the school management tried to influence the family to withdraw the case. It is also claimed that they offered to waive the child’s school fees, which the family declined.
The incident has stirred unrest in the area, with the family demanding an impartial investigation and appropriate action against those responsible. Police have stated that they are looking into the matter based on the complaint filed.
