Newly elected Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Runeil Debbarma, has strongly criticized the BJP-led state government, calling its allegations of corruption against the Tipra Motha Party unfounded and politically motivated.

Speaking after the election of the new CEM, Chairman, and an Executive Member at Khumulwng—the ADC headquarters—Debbarma said such accusations tend to emerge only in the run-up to elections. He confirmed that the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, after which he will formally assume his responsibilities.

Outlining his priorities, Debbarma emphasized the need to improve access to drinking water, education, and healthcare in the region. However, he pointed out that limited financial support from the state government remains a major obstacle to development efforts.

He also challenged the BJP to provide transparency regarding the funds allocated to the ADC. Debbarma urged the government to release official documents, including sanction orders and financial records, if it claims to have provided substantial assistance.

“If there is any wrongdoing, the authorities are free to investigate and act,” he said, adding that such allegations conveniently resurface only during election periods.
