Tipra Motha Eyes 470–500 Seats in Village Committee Polls

With the counting of votes for the recently concluded Village Committee elections scheduled for October 5, the Tipra Motha Party has expressed confidence of securing a substantial majority of the seats, projecting victory in nearly 470 to 500 of the 587 seats.

The party held a meeting in Agartala on Saturday to review the September 28 polling and finalise its strategy for the counting process. Senior party leaders, MLAs and representatives of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council attended the meeting.

Speaking after the meeting, senior Tipra Motha leader and Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma said the party's internal assessment suggested that it could win around 80 to 90 per cent of the seats contested.

According to party leaders, Tipra Motha has already secured more than 200 seats uncontested, while the outcome in the remaining constituencies will be determined through the counting process.

“Our assessment indicates that the results will largely be in our favour. We are expecting to win between 470 and 500 seats out of the total 587. If the NDA's tally is taken together, the figure could cross 500,” a senior party leader said.

The party said its assessment was based on feedback collected from different constituencies and organisational units rather than merely on constituency-wise calculations.

Leaders also pointed out that in several areas where Tipra Motha candidates had already been elected unopposed, the party had contested other seats and was confident of performing strongly there as well.

With counting set for October 5, the party leadership said it would maintain a close watch on the process and deploy representatives at counting centres to monitor the proceedings.

The final outcome, however, will be known only after the official counting and declaration of results.
