The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura, has assured that necessary steps are being taken to ensure transparency and accuracy in the state’s electoral rolls, following a letter submitted by Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma.

In a letter addressed to Debbarma, Additional Chief Electoral Officer U.J. Mog said that the matter raised in his representation dated July 14, 2025, has been duly examined.

Mog clarified that the process of inclusion, deletion, or correction of names in the voter list is strictly conducted during any Special Revision (SR), Special Intensive Revision (SIR), or Continuous Updation exercise under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

“All complaints will be duly considered and thoroughly examined during the forthcoming exercise for revision of the electoral rolls,” the letter stated.

The CEO’s office further noted that during every revision exercise, applications received for inclusion, deletion, or correction are uploaded daily on the official website, with copies also shared with all recognized political parties. These applications are verified by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and subsequently considered in open hearings conducted by the Assistant/ Electoral Registration Officers (AERO/ERO).

The letter also reminded that:

  • Form 6 is prescribed for inclusion of names in the electoral roll.

  • Form 7 is used for raising objections to inclusion or requesting deletion of names.

  • Form 8 is applicable for corrections, change of residence, replacement of EPIC, or PwD marking.

“These forms are available in the office of the EROs and can also be submitted online,” Mog mentioned.

Significantly, the Additional CEO confirmed that instructions have already been issued to all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to conduct thorough verification of the electoral rolls and take necessary action for identifying and removing ineligible entries, strictly as per law.
