Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha is set to attend two major oath-taking ceremonies of newly elected BJP-led governments in neighbouring states.

Speaking at an event in Agartala, Dr. Saha said he will travel to Kolkata on Friday to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the state’s first BJP government on May 9.

The ceremony, scheduled at Brigade Parade Ground, is being seen as a landmark political event, marking the BJP’s rise to power in West Bengal for the first time after the recent Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah has reached Kolkata to hold discussions regarding the selection of the next Chief Minister. The final decision is expected after a meeting of the party’s newly elected legislators on Friday.

Several senior BJP leaders, including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin, and chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, are likely to attend the event.

After the West Bengal programme, Dr. Saha will also travel to Assam to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the BJP-led government there on May 12.

The Assam event comes after the BJP retained power in the state elections and is expected to witness the presence of several national and regional leaders, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to attend as the chief guest.
