Tripura Police of Dhramnagar police station have achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the sensational murder of delivery boy Prasenjit Sarkar. Within 14 days, the authorities have managed to capture two of the remaining fugitives involved in the crime.
Today, the police successfully apprehended the last two fugitives out of the five accused in Prasenjit Sarkar’s murder case. The arrested suspects are Meghdeep Bhattacharya (24), resident of Madhya Noyapara, Dharmanagar, and Piu Dhar (22), resident of Dakshin Harua, Dharmanagar.
According to police sources, the suspects were arrested while returning to Tripura from Assam. One was apprehended at a checkpoint in front of Churaibari police station, and the other was captured in the Premtala area. Due to security reasons, the two were first taken to Churaibari police station, where all legal formalities were completed.
The police also revealed that following Prasenjit Sarkar’s mysterious death, both suspects had gone into hiding, leaving the area.
The two arrested individuals were presented in the Dharmanagar District and Sessions Court today. The prosecution strongly opposed their bail, and after hearing arguments from both sides, the Honorable Judge denied the bail requests. The court has ordered that the suspects remain in custody until December 30, 2025, and directed the police to interrogate them while in jail. The five accused are scheduled to be presented again in court on December 30, 2025.
The case has been registered under Dharmanagar Police Case No. 2025DMN122, dated 14/12/2025, under sections 329(4)/115(2)/103(1)/3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). The two suspects were brought to the Dharmanagar District Court at 11:30 AM on Saturday.
Earlier, Sushmita Bhattacharya, Sangeeta Bhattacharya, and Sourav Bhattacharya—three other accused in the case—were arrested by North District Police near a local railway station in Sribhoomi district under the supervision of the District Superintendent of Police. Following their presentation in court, they were remanded to jail. Remarkably, within just 14 days of filing the case, all the accused have now been apprehended—a success that has been widely recognized as a significant achievement by the North District Police.
