Dr. Biswendu Bhattacharjee, a senior journalist and renowned environmental activist from Tripura, will represent India as a member of the Indian delegation at the COP 30 to be held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21.

The United Nations has invited eight journalists from India to cover the prestigious international event, and Dr. Bhattacharjee will participate as a representative of the United News of India (UNI).

This year’s conference will focus on “International Cooperation to Tackle Climate Change Challenges,” bringing together delegates from nearly 200 countries to discuss strategies and formulate policies to address the pressing issues of global climate change.

In addition to the sessions in Belém, several parallel events will also be organized across various locations in France. Alongside his journalistic responsibilities, Dr. Bhattacharjee is scheduled to deliver a special address on citizen-led initiatives to combat climate change in Central Asia.

Notably, Dr. Bhattacharjee was also part of the Indian delegation to the 29th World Climate Conference held in Azerbaijan last year. With over two decades of dedicated service to environmental journalism and activism, he has been a prominent voice in advancing climate awareness and sustainability efforts across Tripura and the Northeastern region of India.
