Tripura Police of Mungiakami Police Station under Teliamura sub-division of Khowai District have once again achieved a significant success in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive and seized 77 grams of heroin worth Rs 5 lakh.

On Saturday, during routine naka checking at the 41 Mile Naka area along the National Highway, police intercepted a luxury Thar vehicle without a registration number, acting on specific intelligence received by Officer-in-Charge Soren Debbarma.

Following the interception, a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, police recovered brown sugar cleverly concealed inside seven soap cases. A quantity of banned cough syrup was also seized from the vehicle. Three persons who were travelling in the car were detained in connection with the case.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Teliamura, Rohan Kishan, IPS, and DCM Sandeep Debbarma rushed to the spot and conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the entire operation.

Speaking to the media, SDPO Rohan Kishan, IPS stated that during preliminary interrogation, the detained persons confessed that the narcotic substances were being transported from Meghalaya to Tripura.

He added that the involvement of a larger drug trafficking network cannot be ruled out. All aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined, and strict legal action will be taken after a detailed investigation.

Police authorities have reiterated that such naka checking and special operations will be intensified in the coming days to curb the illegal flow of narcotics in the state. The successful operation by Mungiakami Police has brought a sense of relief among the public, with many praising the vigilance and proactive role of the police administration.
