In a late-night operation on Tuesday, Tripura Police seized four pistols and seven magazines from a house near Amtali, on the outskirts of Agartala.

West District Superintendent of Police (SP) Namit Pathak said the raid was conducted at the residence of Dipankar Sen, who is currently in judicial custody in connection with several cases, mostly arms-related.

“Acting on specific intelligence inputs about arms being hidden at his residence, a joint team from Amtali Police Station and SDPO Amtali Parmita Pandey carried out the search. During the operation, police dug beneath the floor of the house and recovered the arms and magazines,” SP Pathak told reporters.

The SP added that the seized weapons appeared to be factory-made, though they have been sent for forensic examination.

According to police sources, Dipankar Sen is an accused in at least seven criminal cases, the majority of which are linked to illegal arms.
