Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said that the state police have intensified their anti-drug operations over the past 10 days, leading to significant seizures and arrests under the government’s “Zero Tolerance” policy against narcotics.

Dr. Saha informed that, through coordinated efforts with intelligence agencies, Tripura Police recovered 896 kilograms of cannabis, 90,617 bottles of banned cough syrup, 180 Yaba tablets, and 27.78 grams of heroin during the special drive.

In the course of these operations, 15 NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases were registered, and 16 accused persons were arrested for their involvement in drug trafficking.

“Tripura Police is committed to eradicating the menace of drugs and ensuring that all individuals linked to this illegal network are brought to justice,” the Chief Minister stated.

He reaffirmed the government’s determination to build a drug-free Tripura and safeguard the future of the youth.

Dr. Saha also commended the state police for their active role in combating narcotics and emphasized that the administration will continue to enforce strict measures against offenders as part of its ongoing campaign against drugs.
