The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has registered a remarkable and steady rise in its annual budget over the past nine years, reflecting the state government’s deepening commitment to rural development and women-led livelihood initiatives.
The surge in funding coincides with the participation of the TRLM team—led by CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS—at the National Workshop in Hyderabad, where preparations are underway for the Annual Action Plan (AAP) for 2026–27.
According to official data, TRLM’s budget has expanded more than tenfold since 2017–18. The allocation, which was ₹51.77 crore in 2017–18, has risen consistently each year, reaching ₹528.20 crore for 2025–26. The steady growth highlights the mission’s expanding developmental footprint and increasing outreach across rural Tripura.
Year-wise Budget Growth of TRLM:
2017–18: ₹51.77 crore
2018–19: ₹99.53 crore
2019–20: ₹174.50 crore
2020–21: ₹182.28 crore
2021–22: ₹192.93 crore (later revised to ₹258.81 crore)
2022–23: ₹268.46 crore
2023–24: ₹339.27 crore
2024–25: ₹417.02 crore
2025–26: ₹528.20 crore
Officials note that the significant budget enhancement has enabled the rollout of a wide range of livelihood, skill development, and enterprise promotion programmes. These initiatives now benefit nearly 5 lakh Self Help Group (SHG) women (“didi”s) and other rural households across the state.
“The Mission’s expanding budget reflects stronger central support as well as Tripura’s commendable performance under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM),” an official said.
