A fresh wave of job fraud has surfaced across Tripura, with organized scam networks targeting unemployed youth by falsely promising government jobs in exchange for money.

The latest complaints involve the misuse of the name of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), where unsuspecting candidates were allegedly handed fake appointment letters after paying large sums.

According to official sources, fraudsters have been contacting job aspirants through phone calls and WhatsApp messages, posing as representatives or intermediaries linked to government departments. By creating a sense of urgency and offering guaranteed appointments, they have managed to extract money from several victims.

Reacting to the developments, TSECL issued a strong public warning, making it clear that the corporation has no connection whatsoever with such fraudulent activities. The utility stated that anyone claiming to offer jobs in TSECL in return for money is a scammer, and citizens should not fall into such traps.

TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu provided detailed clarification on the actual recruitment process currently underway. He said that a total of 4,430 applications have been received for 104 engineering posts across different categories. For Manager (Electrical) Group ‘A’, 1,202 applications were submitted against 24 vacancies, while Manager (Electrical) Group ‘B’ saw 969 applications for 58 posts. In the civil engineering stream, 1,113 applications were received for eight Manager (Civil) Group ‘A’ posts, and 661 applications for eight Group ‘B’ posts. Additionally, 368 applications were submitted for four Manager (Mechanical) Group ‘A’ posts, and 117 for two Group ‘B’ vacancies.

Basu emphasized that the entire recruitment process will be conducted in a transparent and merit-based manner. Only candidates who clear the written examination by securing the prescribed cutoff marks will be shortlisted for the viva voce. He added that every stage of recruitment, including examination dates, venues, and timings, will be officially published through newspapers and on the corporation’s website.

TSECL has urged all job seekers to remain vigilant and to rely solely on official notifications. Candidates have been specifically advised not to engage with agents, brokers, or middlemen claiming to have influence over appointments. For authentic information, applicants are encouraged to regularly visit the official website, www.tsecl.in.

The corporation underlined that public awareness is the strongest defense against such fraud. Staying alert, verifying information, and maintaining distance from dubious offers are essential to avoid falling prey to job-related scams, TSECL authorities said.
