Tripura former Chief Minister and BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday expressed serious concern over the growing influence of fundamentalist groups in Bangladesh, warning that it is pushing the country toward instability and threatening its very existence.

Referring to reports of violence against minority communities, Deb said the law-and-order situation in Bangladesh has deteriorated significantly, particularly following the death of Usman Bin Hadi. He alleged that incidents of arson targeting the homes of Hindu minorities, along with cases of brutal killings, have been reported from several parts of the country.

Deb claimed that extremist ideologies have eroded basic human values among certain groups, leading to violent and divisive actions that are disrupting social harmony. He further stated that the worsening security situation is also having a severe impact on Bangladesh’s economy, which, according to him, is declining with each passing day.

The BJP MP said some groups mistakenly believe that targeting minority Hindus will help protect their own existence. However, he warned that such actions would ultimately endanger the future of Bangladesh itself.

“Attacking minorities will not save anyone’s existence,” Deb said, adding that those responsible for violence against minority communities should not expect to be spared.
