Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Tuesday asserted that the Government of India will be compelled to take the Northeast seriously when the region speaks collectively, as its states share similar issues and have long faced discrimination.

Addressing the media, the royal scion of Tripura announced that the Tipra Motha Party will hold a “One North East” mass rally at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala on 27 November at 10 AM.

Pradyot said the rally had earlier faced repeated delays.
“It was initially scheduled for the 7th, but permission was denied. Then it was moved to the 15th, which was also cancelled. Now it has been approved for the 27th, and we will receive the ground tomorrow at 10 PM,” he stated.
He added that despite being alliance partners, CPIM and Congress were granted permission smoothly, while Tipra Motha’s event faced hurdles.

Leaders from across the Northeast are expected to attend the rally. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will address the gathering to voice support for regional parties. Former Nagaland Minister and ex-BJP national spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon, who recently resigned from the party, will also join to show solidarity.

Representatives from Manipur—including Premachandra Singh and RK Meghen—as well as Ajay Edwards from Gorkhaland, Daniel Langthasa from Dima Hasao, and the Tai Ahom group from Assam are among those scheduled to participate.

Pradyot claimed that attempts are being made to obstruct the rally.
“Many people are being pressured not to provide vehicles to our workers. They think the Tiprasa will bow down, but we will not. We may have less money, but we have courage,” he said.

Calling it a rally for unity, he added, “This is the ‘One North East’ rally. Our issues are the same—we have faced discrimination and neglect for years. When the entire Northeast speaks together, Delhi will have to take us seriously. We are coming together on one platform for our people.”

He appealed to all supporters to maintain peace throughout the event.
“I request everyone to come peacefully and return home peacefully after the programme,” Pradyot said.
