Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday highlighted the importance of educating the younger generation about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s pivotal role in shaping modern India.
He noted that a series of programmes has been organised across the country to commemorate Patel’s contributions to national unity and the protection of India’s sovereignty.
Dr. Saha made these remarks while flagging off the Sardar@150 Unity March in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Circuit House, Agartala.
“In celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, numerous programmes have been held in every state to honour his legacy, his commitment to national integration, and his relentless efforts to preserve the nation’s sovereignty,” he said.
The Chief Minister noted that from 1947 to 1949, Patel played a decisive role in unifying the princely states with the Indian Union. “To remember his invaluable contribution, various events have been organised, including debate competitions at school and college levels,” he added.
Dr. Saha also informed that he will leave for Gujarat on Tuesday to take part in the Padayatra being held there. “All Chief Ministers have been invited to participate. Discussions will be held at different stoppages. Many youths are still unaware of Patel’s contribution, and it is essential that they learn about it. Conspiracies are underway to harm the unity of our country, and we are keeping a close watch,” he said.
On the development front, the Chief Minister announced that the state government has already provided over 20,000 jobs in Tripura. “In the coming days, more employment opportunities will be created, and this process will continue,” he assured.
