Assam Rifles organised a 5-km Freedom Run at Radhanagar on August 9 as part of commemorative events marking 150 years of Vande Mataram, bringing together its personnel and members of the local community to celebrate patriotism, national unity and the spirit of collective pride.

The programme began with an informative session on the origin, historical significance and enduring legacy of Vande Mataram. The session highlighted the song’s inspirational role during India’s freedom movement and its continued significance as a symbol of patriotism and national consciousness.

Following the talk, participants took part in a spirited 5-km Freedom Run, carrying the National Flag along the designated route. Assam Rifles personnel and local residents participated enthusiastically, reflecting a strong sense of camaraderie and shared national identity.

The event aimed to commemorate the timeless values associated with Vande Mataram while encouraging physical fitness, national pride and greater community participation. The active involvement of local residents also highlighted the close bond between Assam Rifles and the people of the region.
