Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the main goal of the government is to ensure that the benefits of development reach the people at the grassroots.
He said that the state government is working with emphasis on every sector, including education, health, road communication, drinking water, electricity, agriculture, rural development, urban development, information technology, sports and social security.
Dr. Saha said this while inaugurating six projects and laying the foundation stones for 12 projects at a function organised at the Dolugaon Higher Secondary School grounds today.
The cost of the inauguration and foundation-laying of these 18 development projects is Rs 45 crore 18 lakh 61 thousand.
Speaking at the function, the Chief Minister said that a total of 56 projects have been inaugurated and foundation stones laid in the district since December 6, 2022. About Rs 197 crore 68 lakh has been allocated for these projects. With today's projects worth Rs 45 crore 18 lakh 61 thousand added to them, the development activities in the district will gain further momentum.
The Chief Minister praised the 'Clean and Green Unakoti' initiative and said that tourism infrastructure is being developed keeping in mind the historical, archaeological and religious heritage of Unakoti.
“Unakoti is an important historical and tourist centre, appreciated not only in Tripura or India but also at the international level. It will be possible to further increase the local economy and employment opportunities through the development of the tourism industry. Apart from Unakoti, the government is working to make various tourist centres in the state, including Dumbur, Matabari, Neermahal and Ujjayanta Palace, more attractive,” he said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of air connectivity in the development of tourism in Unakoti and North Tripura.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the initiative to convert Pushpawant Palace into a five-star hotel to develop the state's tourism industry.
“If this project is implemented, it will expand the tourism industry along with employment opportunities and will have a positive impact on the state's economy,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the development of the state will not be limited to the capital city or a few specific cities.
“The government's goal is to reach the people of every district, subdivision, village and remote area with the benefits of development. Keeping in mind the mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas', public representatives, government employees and the administration are working together as 'Team Tripura',” he said.
The Chief Minister said that due to peace and a healthy environment, there have been significant changes in the communication system and investment in Tripura.
The Chief Minister said that although road work in some areas was disrupted due to rain, the concerned departments have been instructed to repair the roads quickly.
“It is normal for some problems to arise when development work is going on, but the government's goal is not to stop the work, but to take development forward by solving the problems,” he said.
Regarding health infrastructure, the Chief Minister said that work is underway to set up trauma centres in various districts. Initiatives will be taken to set up trauma centres in North Tripura and Unakoti districts in phases.
