With the ADC Village Committee elections approaching, Khowai District Magistrate Rajat Pant and Superintendent of Police D. Jagadishwar Reddy on Tuesday conducted inspections of strong rooms and counting centres across the district to assess election preparedness and security arrangements.
The inspection began at around 10 am and covered the five blocks of Khowai district—Tulashikhar, Padmabil, Kalyanpur, Teliamura and Mungiakami.
As part of the exercise, the officials visited the strong room and counting centre established at Bharat Sardarpara Higher Secondary School under Tulashikhar block. They examined the security measures, CCTV surveillance system and other essential infrastructure at the premises.
District Magistrate Rajat Pant said the inspection was being carried out in accordance with the directions of the State Election Commission. He said necessary arrangements had been made at the strong room and counting centre, including security deployment and CCTV surveillance at important points.
SP D. Jagadishwar Reddy said security measures had been intensified throughout Khowai district to facilitate free, fair and peaceful elections. Besides personnel of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), five additional companies of CRPF have been deployed across the district.
He added that security arrangements were being monitored continuously throughout the election process, including polling, transportation and counting, to prevent any disruption and ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.
The inspection was aimed at identifying and addressing any gaps in infrastructure, logistics and security at the designated strong rooms and counting centres before the commencement of the ADC Village Committee elections.
