A 17-day-old infant died while undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital in Agartala on Saturday, with the family alleging that negligence by an outsourced healthcare worker led to the child's death. The incident triggered brief tension on the hospital premises.
According to the family, the infant was admitted to GB Hospital in the morning after developing health complications. The child's father, Deeptanu Roy, and mother, Antorima Ghosh, said the baby was undergoing treatment when an outsourced special staff member administered an injection.
The family alleged that the infant's condition deteriorated rapidly immediately after the injection and that the baby died shortly thereafter.
Following the death, family members raised questions over the hospital's medical services and the role of the personnel responsible for the child's treatment. They alleged that lapses in treatment and deficiencies in healthcare services contributed to the death of their child.
The incident briefly created tension at the hospital as distressed family members sought answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the infant's death.
The family has demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident and urged the authorities to take appropriate action against anyone found responsible.
