Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi on Monday said that Tripura’s Child Care Institution (CCI) system could be considered a model for other states, adding that she would encourage state governments across the country to study and replicate its practices.

During her visit to Tripura, she inspected a One Stop Centre in Udaipur, Gomati district, where she interacted with staff providing integrated support services to women in distress. She also reviewed Anganwadi centres and Child Care Institutions functioning in the state.

The Minister highlighted that One Stop Centres are playing an important role in assisting women affected by violence by offering medical support, legal aid, psychosocial counselling, and temporary shelter under one roof. She noted that the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains committed to strengthening institutional support systems aimed at ensuring women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment.

Praising the implementation of welfare schemes in the state, she said Tripura has emerged as a strong performing state in this sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha and Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy.

She also interacted with children at the CCI, observing their participation in various activities, and said that they appeared happy and engaged. She added that future initiatives under state schemes such as After Care would focus on skill development and training to help children build better futures.

The Minister concluded that Tripura’s approach to child care and women-centric welfare initiatives is commendable, and she would recommend other states to visit and adopt similar practices.
