Tripura Police on Monday arrested two persons and seized drugs worth lakhs of rupees from Kumarghat under Unakoti district.
Tripura Police, in a statement, said that acting on specific intelligence, a joint team conducted an operation on Monday (27/07/2026) and intercepted a blue Renault Duster bearing Registration No. AS-03-AD-4875.
“During a thorough search of the vehicle, 38 packets (koutas) containing suspected brown sugar were recovered. On being informed, the staff of Kumarghat Police Station immediately reached the spot. DCM, Kumarghat, is also present at the scene, and all legal formalities are being carried out in accordance with the law,” he said.
Police said that two persons travelling in the vehicle have been detained. Their details are as follows: Rajesh Das (41) and Sajal Das (45).
“The detained persons have been taken into police custody. Further legal formalities, including weighing, testing, and seizure procedures, are in progress. A case under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act is being registered,” he added.
