In a major push to enhance Tripura’s education and healthcare infrastructure, the state Cabinet on Tuesday approved recruitment proposals for a total of 1,658 posts across key departments.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Cabinet spokesperson and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the decisions aim to address critical manpower gaps in schools and health institutions.
Under the Health and Family Welfare Department, the Cabinet approved the recruitment of six Dental Medical Officers. These appointments will be made through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC).
“In a significant move for the education sector, the Cabinet has cleared the recruitment of 915 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) for Classes 11 and 12,” Chowdhury said. He added that the recruitment, to be conducted by the Teachers' Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), will require candidates to hold a postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed qualification.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation and filling up of 700 new posts of Graduate Teachers for Classes 9 and 10 under the Directorate of Secondary Education. These positions will be offered on a fixed-pay basis.
The Cabinet also approved the recruitment of 37 academic and administrative posts for the newly established National Law University under the Higher Education Department. The positions include Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Deputy Registrar, and Assistant Registrar. The university will handle the recruitment process independently, following its own rules and regulations.
“These decisions are part of the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening the quality of education and healthcare delivery in Tripura,” said Chowdhury.
