Tripura CM to inaugurate awareness program on Drug-Free Tripura, Child Marriage prevention on July 17

An awareness program aimed at promoting a drug-free Tripura and preventing child marriage will be held at the Gandhigram Higher Secondary School ground under Bamutia block of West District on July 17. 

The event is expected to witness the participation of key dignitaries from across the state. 

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the program and attend as the chief guest. The initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to addressing social issues affecting youth and children in Tripura.

Among the prominent guests of honour slated to attend are Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Secretary of Viveknagar Ramakrishna Mission Shubhkarananda Maharaj, Chairperson of the Tripura Women’s Commission Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights Jayanti Debbarma, Chairman of Bamutia Panchayat Samiti Deepak Kumar Sinha, and former MLA Krishnadhan Das.

District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura Dr. Vishal Kumar, and Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar will grace the occasion as special guests. The program will be presided over by Acting President of West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Bishwajit Shil.

Officials said the program will include awareness campaigns, community interaction, and cultural activities designed to educate young people and their families on the perils of substance abuse and the legal and social consequences of child marriage.
