The Tripura Golf Association has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting golf and enhancing related infrastructure across the state.
This was announced during the association's annual general meeting held on Sunday at its headquarters in ML Plaza, Agartala.
In a key development, the association formed its first-ever state-level committee. David Debbarma was unanimously elected as the President of the association, with Dr. Biswendu Bhattacharjee appointed as the Vice-President and Sushanta Debbarma as the Secretary.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, President David Debbarma said, "Today marks a significant milestone for golf in Tripura as we have officially formed our first state-level committee. Our core aim is to promote the sport and focus on building quality infrastructure to encourage more participation."
He further stated that the association has prepared a special roadmap to develop golf in Tripura, with plans to introduce training facilities, organize tournaments, and establish more golf-friendly venues in the state.
"The emphasis will be on making golf accessible to all, especially the youth, and ensuring Tripura emerges on the national golfing map," Debbarma added.
The rest are Dr. Sanjib Debbarma and Biplab Nath as Vice Presidents; Asish Sen and Dr. Sneha Debbarma as Joint Secretaries; Dr. Sanjay Kundu as Treasurer; and the seven Executive Members are Dr. Jitendra Tripura, Dr. Suman Das, Sibaprasad Ghosh, B.S. Thoma Debbarma, Angsuman Debbarma, Rusel Sinha, and Dr. Amitava Baidya.
The formation of the committee is expected to give structured momentum to the sport in the state, which has so far seen limited engagement compared to other regions.
