In a heart-wrenching appeal that reflects both struggle and hope, a poor daily wage worker from Kathaltali village has reached out for financial assistance to save his son’s eyesight.

Sunil Shil, a resident of Ward No. 8 under Kathaltali Gram Panchayat in Sadar subdivision of West Tripura District, has been fighting life’s hardships alone for years. After losing his wife long ago, he has been raising his two daughters and only son by working in others’ homes and doing daily labour—barely managing to survive.

But today, his biggest battle is for his 18-year-old son, Palash Shil.

According to family sources, Palash suffered a severe eye injury in childhood following an accident. Since then, his condition has gradually worsened. Determined to save his son’s vision, Sunil took him to various hospitals across the state and even to Guwahati for treatment. Despite his relentless efforts, one of Palash’s eyes could not be restored.

Now, tragedy looms larger. Both of Palash’s eyes are critically affected.

Recently, doctors at Hapania Medical College Hospital examined him and delivered devastating news—his treatment is not possible in Tripura. Specialists have advised that only a major operation at an advanced hospital outside the state could potentially restore his eyesight.

For Sunil Shil, this was a crushing blow.

Having already spent everything he had on his son’s treatment, he now finds himself helpless and unable to afford further medical care. With no savings and limited means, even the journey to an outside hospital feels impossible.

Speaking to the media on Saturday morning, a visibly emotional Sunil said he had approached local leaders for help but received no response. Left with no other option, he has now appealed directly to the Chief Minister of the state, hoping for government assistance to save his son’s vision.

“I just want my son to see again,” he said, his voice filled with pain and desperation.

The story of Sunil and Palash is not just one of hardship, but also of a father’s unwavering love and determination. As their plea reaches the public, all eyes are now on the administration—whether help will arrive in time to give Palash a chance to see the world again.
