He made these remarks while inaugurating a rally held to mark Olympic Day celebrations at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan premises.
The Chief Minister said the state government is consistently working to modernize and upgrade sports infrastructure across Tripura through multiple development initiatives. He added that such efforts aim to create better opportunities for young athletes and help them advance in various sports disciplines.
Dr. Saha also remarked that earlier, sports bodies in the state did not adequately contribute to infrastructure development. He said that at present, efforts are being made to build and improve sports facilities in every district and subdivision.
He further noted that several stadiums, tracks, and galleries have been named after prominent sportspersons from the state as a mark of recognition, which was lacking in the past. He also mentioned that the Indian Olympic Association has acknowledged the proper functioning of the state’s Olympic Association.
The event was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb, Assam MLA Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Sports Department Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, Director L. Darlong, Tripura Olympic Association Chairman Ratan Saha, Secretary Sujit Roy, and others.
The Chief Minister, along with other dignitaries, also took part in the Olympic Day rally.
