A resident of Bandher Par area under Ward No. 3 of Barjala Gram Panchayat in Charilam block of Sepahijala district has alleged that she has been deprived of a government house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) despite being eligible for the scheme.
The complainant, Maheja Khatun, said that her family possesses an Antyodaya ration card but has not received any housing assistance from the government so far. Belonging to a daily wage worker’s family, she claimed that her family has been living in a dilapidated house for a long time, while their name has not been included under the PMAY beneficiary list.
Maheja said her husband, Abdul Sattar Mia, works as a daily wage labourer and struggles to run the family. She alleged that the lack of a permanent shelter has left them facing severe difficulties.
Apart from housing benefits, Maheja further alleged that they have not received any other government assistance from the local panchayat since the BJP government came to power. She claimed that despite submitting applications to the concerned departments several times, no positive response has been received so far.
However, no official statement has been received from the Barjala Gram Panchayat or the concerned administration regarding the allegations.
